Brexit extension

As you will be aware the UK Government and the European Union have reached an agreement on a six month extension to Article 50. During this time we will remain as a member of the EU, and the Government is confident it can deliver a deal within this period. Therefore the UK will continued to use TRACES and you should continue to raise import notifications in the way you do currently.

Insurance is all about protecting risks, but all too often shippers and receivers view insurance as an expense that they think can be ignored.It is an added cost that they can do without.Instead of paying for insurance too many business people put their trust in the shipping lines and trust to luck that nothing happens. 

Freight bodies welcome new Brexit security waiver 

Freight and logistics representatives have broadly welcomed the announcement this week by the UK government to have a six-month phasing in of the pre-arrival forms known as Entry Summary Declarations for goods imported from the EU in the event of a ‘no deal’ Brexit.

Safety and Security After Brexit

All vehicles arriving or departing from the UK will be required to have a safety and security declaration made in advance of the vehicle arriving at the port of departure from Europe.

What happens after Brexit? 

With the UK due to leave the EU on the 29^th March 2019, there is still considerable confusion as to the outcome of negotiations and a No Deal Brexit cannot be ruled out.  For UK based exporters and importers of goods to and from EU countries, significant changes to Customs regulations are inevitable with the main consideration being a change from CHIEF (Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight) to the new CDS (Customs Declaration Service).
