Case Study: 10 Ton Dumper Truck

Case study: Completing the movement of a 10 Ton Dumper Truck from China to the Northwest of England.

Background

A well-established customer contacted us to arrange the movement of a newly purchased dumper truck. As an experienced customs and freight broker, we regularly handle various project shipments worldwide. The customer valued our advice and trusted our expertise to manage this complex transportation.

The problem

The shipper initially wanted to export the truck as a RoRo or on a flatbed truck. However, this would have significantly increased transport costs. After evaluating the situation, we recommended a more cost-effective option. We advised the shipper to disassemble some vehicle parts, allowing them to fit the truck into a 40HC container. This approach would reduce costs while ensuring safe transit.

Our involvement

Although the shipper insisted on hiring cranes and additional equipment, the customer eventually contacted us to handle the movement. We quickly contacted our local agent in China, explained the situation, and convinced the shipper to follow our original plan. Since the customer required door-to-door service, we coordinated with our overseas partners to manage every step efficiently.

We:

  • Coordinated the movement of the 10-ton dumper truck.
  • Arranged the export declaration.
  • Ensured safe loading and timely delivery of the shipment.

The Solution:

We worked closely with the shipper and our local agents to ensure the right equipment was available for loading. Moreover, we made sure the truck was securely fastened to prevent movement during transit. To protect the shipment, we arranged comprehensive transit insurance on behalf of the customer.
